Facial Hair Contest in the Black Forest Garten for Best Beard; Best Mustache and Best Sideburns
Sign up at the B.E. Hive Hair Salon before September 11th or at the ‘Head table’ by the Souvenir Stand in the Black Forest Garten that evening before 7:20 p.m. Three prizes will be awarded for each category.  Friday at 7:30 p.m.  Sponsored by the B.E. Hive Hair Salon

Sauerkraut Eating Contest in the Black Forest Garten sponsored by Bon Ton Bakery
Friday at approximately 9:20 p.m. during a band break

Saturday, September 15th

 2018 Pretzel Polka Run/Walk
9 a.m. start time at the Puerner Street Gate.  7:30-8:30 a.m. on grounds registration. Visit the Randy Schopen Foundation website for more information. 

Ethnic Costume Contest
Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Registration at 9:15 a.m. in the Linden Garten
Age categories are: 0 to 2, 3 to 5, and 6 to 12 years old

Vintage Car Show
Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (Infield Area)

Participant ribbons to the first 25 entries. Three trophies awarded. King’s Choice for Best Pre-War, Queen’s Choice for Best Post-War and President’s Choice for Overall Favorite.

**New Event – Little Tykes Big Wheels
Event to be held ‘after’ the Ethnic Costume Contest
Registration is at 10:45 a.m., Start Time is at 11:00 a.m. (Weather permitting)
18-23 months, 24-29 months, 30-35 months, 36-41 months, 42-47 months
Maximum weight is 35 pounds  (Big Wheels provided for the race by Gemuetlichkeit Days)
Location signage will be posted at the festival.

Big Wheel Race
Registration at 10:45 a.m.. Start Time is at 11:00 a.m. (Weather permitting).
Age groups: 3-4; 5-6; and 7-8   (Big Wheels provided for the race by Gemuetlichkeit Days)
Organized and run by the Jefferson Optimist Club
Location signage will be posted at festival.
**New Event – Chainsaw Competition
Start Time is at 11:00 a.m. (Weather permitting) This will be a timed event of making 1 cut down and 1 cut down within a 6” area. This year will be a friendly competition between friends. Who will have bragging rights? We will be building off of this for the coming years. Bring your stock chainsaw. Safety apparel is required. Safety chaps, eye protection & hearing protection.
Children’s Stein Carrying Contest
Begins at Noon. (Weather permitting)
Location signage will be posted at the festival.

Euchre & Schafskopf Tournaments
Saturday at 10:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. (Black Forest Garten)

Registration for Euchre starts at 9:00 a.m. with play to begin at 10:00 a.m. SHARP!
Registration for Schafskopf begins at 1:00 p.m. and play begins at 2:00 p.m.
Both tournaments are held in the Black Forest Garten. Trophies & prize money for 1st place in both with prize money to the rest as determined by the number of participants. Registration fee of $2.00 is required as is a button for admission to the grounds, BUT there is free admission from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. All money is given out in prizes.

Five Categories plus Best Of Show. Cash for 1st & 2nd and 3rd place. Entrees, desserts, soups & salads.

Sunday, September 16th

There are currently no contests scheduled on Sunday, but come and enjoy the great parade downtown at noon.   Then head out to the Jefferson County Fair Park to listen or dance to the famous Jimmy Hartwig Band with no admission button required.  The grand prize drawing for the $1000 will be held at 6 p.m. in the Black Forest Garten (main Activity Building).

Find the Mecki!

The Find the Mecki contest will be held prior to the festival, begining on September 6th, 2018. Clues will be posted on our Find the Mecki page when the contest begins.
